New members
...wishing to join The American Legion. Fill out the form to the right and submit it. You will be contacted by a member of Post 447 and they will schedule a time to meet you.
Existing members
...wishing to renew their membership can do so through the National Membership Renewal Site.

Regarding DD-214's... Our Post is required to verify service dates and discharge status of all new members using information from form DD-214. This is a requirement of the IRS in order to keep our non-profit status.
However, we are not required to maintain this document. Current and new members are encouraged to have their DD-214 recorded with the County Clerk. This service is provided free of charge. * Texas Government Code, Section 552.140 (a) (b) requires county clerks to make all DD-214s registered after September 1, 2003 confidential for 75 years. |
